You would never know that she has this kidney defect by watching her play and thrive. It’s impossible to say what her long term prognosis is. But Nala is beautiful, active, strong, and so deserving of all the best life has to offer. We know that placing a dog with a medical condition is challenging. She does have accidents on occasion, at night, if she’s had too much water before bed. She will need to be monitored by a veterinarian and have bloodwork checked every 4-6 months or as needed. We want to ensure that any potential adopter understands that Nala will need to remain on a prescription diet kidney food for the rest of her life. We do have all of her vet records and have spoken to her vet. MEDICAL NOTE Nala has a congenital defect of her kidneys, where they are smaller than normal kidneys. The most important thing to Nala is that she be the center of someone’s world. We are looking to place Nala as an only dog, although she could be a great playdate girl, once she’s settled in somewhere. She would not do well in a home where she’d be alone all day, as she loves her humans and wants to be a part of all the happenings. She’s super smart, and would make a great agility dog. This girl loves the spotlight and wants to shine. She’s an attention seeker and attention hog. She’s more comfy with women, than with men, upon initial meetings… not in aggressive way… she just tends to look for reassurance that all is ok. Nala can be a bit unsure in new situations with new people. She would love a large fenced in yard, in addition to a human who will take her on hikes and walks galore. She has a favorite ball, is great at catching frisbees, and is in her glory when she’s able to partake in any sort of fetch game. She knows what she wants, when she wants it, and will absolutely let you know. Meet Nala! She’s almost 3 years old and looking for a very active home. Calvin does get itchy at certain times of the year and receives allergy shots, if needed, to keep him comfy. He is current on vaccines and is neutered. He should enjoy long walks, see new things, and smell new smells. She wants him to be the center of someone’s world and not be crated for long periods. He’s very adored by his mom and this decision has not been easy. Calvin could be placed with a sweet FEMALE boxer or he can be placed as an only, provided he gets lots of attention and smooches. He’s got your typical amount of boxer energy, loves to play, loves the car, and loves to be with his humans. Calvin is coming into rescue because his mom feels she can’t give him the life he deserves, due to her very long work hours.
